Are You Accepting His Promises?

December 2, 2008

Sunday in The Edge we talked about Zechariah, the birth of John the Baptist Foretold, and the fact that Zechariah didn’t accept the gift God promised him through the angel Gabriel, until after John was born, that is.  Evidence of his acceptance of this miracle was when he wrote on a tablet, “His name is John,” thus fulfilling his part of the deal, the directive given by the angel to name him John.

This led me to pose the question “What promises has God given you that you need to accept?”  I’d love to hear some responses from you!

Welcome to the first Edge blog!

So this is new territory to me. I tried one other time to do a daily blog, and it lasted a good two posts.  So your response to this right off will tell us if this is something we can use to talk Christianity together!

We’ll start with yesterday’s key verses from The Edge…1 Thess. 5:16-18, which reads, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Here’s the discussion, and it’s the same one that I discussed with the C3 staff today…

Where are you in these three commands, to REJOICE ALWAYS, PRAY CONTINUALLY, AND GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES?  Which do you struggle with the most?  What emotions come to you as you think about this passage?  Do you think this is attainable?  If so, how?  If not, why is it in the Word?
